How It Works

The calculator uses a simple formula:

• Desired salary + business expenses = pre-tax income needed
• Pre-tax income ÷ (1 - tax rate) = gross income needed
• Gross income ÷ billable hours per year = base hourly rate
• Base rate × (1 + profit margin) = recommended hourly rate
